GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Virginia freshman Sean Singletary is the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball Rookie of the Week for his play in Virginia’s games with North Carolina and Maryland last week. It is the fifth time this season Singletary has received the honor.

The 6-0 point guard from Philadelphia, Pa., scored 32 points and had 12 assists in the two games.

In Virginia’s 85-61 loss at North Carolina on February 16, Singletary scored nine points and had three assists. He also had three steals, one rebound and two turnovers in 33 minutes of playing time.

In the Cavaliers’ 92-89 double overtime loss to Maryland on February 19 at University Hall, Singletary had team-high totals of 23 points and nine assists. He also had two rebounds, one steal and just one turnover in 45 minutes of action.

Virginia Tech’s Coleman Collins and Duke’s J.J. Redick were named Co-ACC Players of the Week.
