CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia wrestling team (6-11 overall, 1-4 ACC) will compete in the 2005 Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestling Championship as part of the Mat Jam event on Saturday, March 5th in Greensboro, N.C.. The Mat Jam event will feature the ACC Championships and the Southern Conference Championships and will be hosted by the University of North Carolina at Greensboro at Fleming Gymnasium on the campus of UNCG.

Virginia’s probables for the 2005 ACC Championships are: 125 – Anthony Burke (20-15), 133 – Byron Dunlap (16-10), 141 – Aaron Martin (5-5), 149 – Paul Dunstan (15-16), 157 – Paul Bjorlo (25-12), 165 – Will Durkee (18-6), 174 – Rocco Caponi (22-10), 184 – Kyle Narkiewicz (7-18), 197 – Scott Smith (8-20) and at heavyweight – Nick Smith (18-15).

Last season (2003-04), UVa finished second in the ACC Championships with 76 points and had two individual ACC Champions – Scott Moore at 141-pounds and Tim Foley at 157-pounds.

Tickets for this year’s Mat Jam event at UNC Greensboro are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students/youth/seniors.

Fans unable to attend the 2005 Mat Jam event can listen online thanks to Takedown Wrestling Radio. A free radio broadcast by Takedown Wrestling Radio will air live from this year’s ACC/SOCON Mat Jam event. TakedownRadio.com’s Scott Casber will be joined by representatives from both conferences as well as the coaches of all of the teams and some of the wrestlers.
