Virginia first-year cross country athlete Emily Harrison finished third today (March 6) at the North America, Central America, and Caribbean Cross Country Championships held in Clermont, Florida. Harrison covered the 4000m race in 15:10 and finished third overall to help the USA take first place in the championships, beating second place Puerto Rico by 26 points.
Harrison, who was named to the USA team as a result of her eighth-place finish at the US Junior Cross Country Championships last month, adds this honor to her All-Regional and All-ACC honors from the fall.
Harrison’s result caps a strong weekend for the Cavaliers, as two school records were set on Friday and Saturday in South Bend, Ind. as the distance medley team of McGavock Dunbar, Kellen Blassingame, Jordan Orr and Alex Tatu set the DMR record on Friday before Blassingame set the indoor 400m record on Saturday.
