WINA to Air Seven UVa Men's Lacrosse Games in 2005

Charlottesville, Va. – WINA Radio (AM 1070), the flagship station for University of Virginia athletics, and Cavalier Sports Marketing are proud to offer UVa fans live coverage of seven regular-season Cavalier men’s lacrosse games this spring, as well as all UVa postseason contests in the ACC and NCAA Tournaments. The games will air live on WINA (AM 1070) in Charlottesville and streamed worldwide on the Internet at www.virginiasports.com.
“Having WINA broadcast our games on the radio is one of the most exciting recent developments for our program and the local lacrosse community,” said Cavalier head coach Dom Starsia. “It is a tremendous benefit for fans unable to attend the games to have immediate access to those events. We are excited to be working closely with WINA to produce the very best broadcasts possible.”
“Voice of the Cavaliers” Mac McDonald and WINA Sports Director Jed Williams call the play-by-play, while former Cavalier standout Doug Tarring adds color commentary.
“Virginia is one of the most passionate lacrosse communities anywhere in the country,” Williams said. “Dom Starsia and his staff have built an elite, widely-respected program, and we’re thrilled that Cavalier fans can follow the Hoos over the airwaves as they chase another national championship.”
Broadcasts begin 15 minutes prior to faceoff with full pregame coverage and conclude with a comprehensive postgame wrap-up featuring coach and player interviews, analysis, and scores from around the nation.
