CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia volleyball team will host six other schools in the 2005 `Hoo Spring Classic on Saturday (April 9) at UVa’s Memorial Gym. Each of the seven teams in the tournament will play four matches. The tournament begins at 10:00 a.m. with the last matches of the day scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.

In addition to Virginia, the other six teams competing in the tournament are Georgetown, James Madison, Liberty, Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia Commonwealth. Each match is the best of three games using rally scoring. Games one and two will be to 30 points and deciding third games will be to 15 points.

Virginia opens the tournament with a 10:00 a.m. match against James Madison and then plays North Carolina at noon. In the afternoon, the Cavaliers play Georgetown at 3:00 p.m. and close out the tournament with a 5:00 p.m. match against Maryland.

In last weekend’s Wahoo Spring Fling Tournament, UVa was 2-2 and posted victories over Appalachian State and William & Mary.

The Cavaliers finished the 2004 season with a 19-11 overall record and an 8-8 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
