Greensboro, N.C. – Attackman John Christmas has been named ACC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the second week in a row for his play in Virginia’s 15-9 win over North Carolina last Saturday (April 9).

Christmas led the Cavalier offense with a season-high five points, his best output in two years. He scored two goals and assisted on three others.

The senior from Ardmore, Pa., assisted on UVa’s first two goals in the first quarter and scored two more in a fast-paced opening 15 minutes that saw the Cavaliers open a 5-2 first quarter lead. He registered his third assist just before halftime as UVa built a 10-4 bulge at the break. The Tar Heels cut Virginia’s lead to two (11-9) late in the third quarter, but could not get any closer.

He earned conference honors last week following a 2-goal, 2-assist performance in a 10-2 win over Maryland.

Christmas has scored 13 goals and added 12 assists this season, topping his totals from last season.

Virginia, ranked third this week, travels to Durham, N.C., Saturday (April 16) to face the second-ranked Duke Blue Devils at 3 pm.
