NEW LONDON, N.C. – The Virginia men’s golf team stands fifth after the second round of play at the 52nd Annual ACC Championship on Saturday.

Third-ranked Georgia Tech fired the best round of the day with a 290 (+2) to tie ninth-ranked Duke as team leader with a 583 (+7) each. NC State is third with a 592 (+16), while defending champion Clemson moved into fourth with a 593 (+18). The Cavaliers shot a 303 for a 602 (+26) total. Florida State and No. 14 Wake Forest follow closely behind.

DukeâÂ?TMs Ryan Blaum continues to forge ahead as the individual leader with a five-under 139. Georgia TechâÂ?TMs Roberto Castro and ClemsonâÂ?TMs Jack Ferguson are tied for second with a one-under 143 apiece. Virginia junior Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) is fourth with an even 144.

Senior Kevin O’Connell (Potomac, Md.) and junior Carter Henderson (Nashville, Tenn.) are tied for 21st with a 152 (+8) each. Sophomore Daniel McGurk (Woodlands, Texas) is tied for 28th with a 154 (+10), while freshman Greg Carlin (Kensington, Md.) shot a 162 (+18).

Final round action of the 2005 ACC Championship tees off on Sunday, April 17 at 8:30 a.m. at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C.
