CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia men’s soccer team concluded its preseason schedule with a scoreless draw against American Wednesday night at Klockner Stadium. The Cavaliers went 1-0-1 in the preseason, as they prepare for their season opener in next week.

Both teams exchanged chances in the game, with the Cavaliers outshooting American 9-8 in the contest. Ryan Burke (Cumberland Foreside, Maine) made three saves for Virginia while he and Michael Giallombardo (Manalapan, N.J.) combined for the shutout. Chris Sedlek (3 saves), Ryan Germann (0 saves), and Joseph Monthey (2 saves) combined for the shutout for the Eagles.

Virginia opens the regular season on September 2 at the UC-Santa Barbara tournament against UC-Riverside.
