CHARLOTTESVILLE – Former University of Virginia rower Lindsay Shoop is scheduled to compete in the pair and the eight for the United States at the World Rowing Championships August 28-September 4 in Gifu, Japan.

Shoop, who is from Charlottesville and graduated from The Covenant School, is a 2004 graduate of Virginia. She didn’t join the UVa rowing team until January of her junior year in 2002 and went on to become a two-time All-America and All-South Region selection. She earned her undergraduate degree in 2003 and rowed as a graduate student in 2004.

Shoop rowed with Virginia’s varsity eight boat her last two years on the team. Each of those years the varsity eight won that event at the ACC Championships and was named ACC Crew of the Year. The Cavaliers finished fifth in the varsity eight at the 2003 NCAA Championships and ninth in 2004.
