Tilley, Henderson Advance to Match Play at U.S. Amateur

ARDMORE, Pa. – Virginia seniors Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and Carter Henderson (Nashville, Tenn.) advanced to match play at the 2005 U.S. Amateur, held at the Merion Golf Club on Tuesday.

Tilley shot a 75 in the second round for a 144 (+4) total to tie for 24th. Henderson shot a 71 (+1) in second round action to tie for 48th with a 146 (+6). The two now advance to match play, beginning on Wednesday. Tilley faces Jon-Michael Socaris (USA) at 9:10 a.m., while Henderson challenges Korey Mahoney (USA) at 1 p.m.

Junior Eamonn McLoughlin (Amityville, N.Y.) shot a 76 in the second round for a 156 (+11) total, missing the cut.

Match play at the U.S. Amateur continues through Sunday, August 28 at the historic Merion Golf Club in suburban Philadelphia.
