• S Nate Lyles was injured in the first quarter and was taken off the field on a cart after a delay of five minutes. Lyles was taken to the emergency room at the UVa Medical Center for evaluation. Coach Al Groh said after the game that they would keep him overnight for observation, but added “He will be fine. When he left the field he had movement of all extremities, but he had a degree of numbness.”
• CB Marcus Hamilton’s first quarter interception was his third career interception against the Yellow Jackets.With 9 points (2 FG, 3 PAT), Connor Hughes now has 315 career points, which places him sixth all-time in ACC history.
• Deyon Williams’ 10 catches and 107 receiving yards are both career highs.
• Williams is the first Cavalier wide receiver to record 10 catches and 100 yards receiving in a game since Billy McMullen at Penn State in 2002 (10 for 122).
Marques Hagans‘ touchdown pass to Deyon Williams in the fourth quarter was the Cavaliers’ first passing touchdown since the second quarter of the Florida State game, a span of 14 quarters.
