CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP)J.R. Reynolds scored 25 points and Adrian Joseph added 24 as Virginia snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating Loyola of Maryland 98-59 Friday night.

Jason Cain had a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds for the Cavaliers (4-4), who outrebounded Loyola 51-32.

Virginia did much of its damage from 3-point range and the foul line. Reynolds and Joseph had five 3s apiece as the Cavaliers went 13-of-21 from beyond the arc. Virginia also outscored the Greyhounds 23-4 from the free-throw line.

Maryland transfer Hassan Fofana, making his Loyola debut, hit a jumper to give the Greyhounds a 7-3 lead with 17:01 remaining in the first half. But Reynolds, who had 17 points in the first half, hit three 3s in a 45-9 run that put Virginia in control 48-16 with 4:24 left.

Virginia led 60-29 at the break, and Loyola could get no closer than 29 the rest of the way.

Loyola’s Andre Collins scored 16 points – 8 below his average – on 6-of-20 shooting. He also had 10 assists.

Fofana had 12 points and Michael Tuck 10 for the Greyhounds.

Virginia’s Mamadi Diane scored 11 points and Laurynas Mikalauskas had 10.
