Virginia's Anthony Burke Named ACC Wrestler of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Virginia’s Anthony Burke was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week after picking up two falls and two major decisions on the week.
Burke began the week earning a 15-5 major decision over VMI’s Lam Ly at 125 pounds. The Cavaliers improved their record to 3-1, posting a 29-6 win over the Keydets.
Burke then helped lead Virginia to a second-place finish in the Virginia Intercollegiate State Wrestling Championship, earning the individual title at 125 pounds. The sophomore from Poquoson, Va., opened the competition with a 17-3 major decision win over James Madison’s Louis Sweet. He then pinned JMU’s Thang Ho in 5:16 in the quarterfinals. Burke was the only Cavalier to win by fall in the championship bout, pinning Old Dominion’s Bryan LaShomb in 3:57.
