CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team is helping Hurricane Katrina victims through the Coaches Care Relief Project to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Teams and coaches across the country have donated items to Coaches Care to be auctioned off on eBay. UVa’s package includes an “Honorary Coach” for a day. The winner will get to sit on the bench with the team during a game. They will also receive four tickets to the North Carolina game. They will eat the pre-game meal with the team and receive an autographed t-shirt, media guide, and ball from the team and coaches.

“We’re proud to be a part of the hurricane relief effort,” head coach Debbie Ryan said. “It’s important that we all take responsibility for helping everybody in the devastated areas to get back on their feet.”

All proceeds from the on-line auction benefit Habitat For Humanity.
