Virginia’s Tomika Ferguson won the triple jump at the Niswonger Invitational with an indoor personal-best leap of 42′ 1.25″, which moves her to the No. 3 performer all-time indoors for the Cavaliers. Teammate Katie Tershel also finished in the top eight, soaring 37′ 6.5″ to take eighth in the event. Virginia also had a pair of runner-up finishes, as Billie Jo Grant took home runner-up honors in the shot put with a 46′ 5.5″ and Kathryn Pettine took home the silver in the pole vault.

First-year Lauren Echko and teammate Jackie Bailey both qualified for the semifinals of the 60m hurdles on the women’s side, while Isi Azeke and Devin Canaday both qualified for the men. Ashley Gore qualified for the finals in the 400m with her 56.62, as did school record holder Kellen Blassingame, who ran a 48.13 to advance. Janne’a Bridgeford led the women’s team in the 60m, running a 7.61 to qualify for the semifinals. Bridgeford’s time was a personal best and moved her up to the No. 3 spot all-time among Virginia performers in the 60m dash.

The women’s 4x400m team also qualified for the finals, running a 3:51.40 to advance.
