SEATTLE – The Virginia men’s tennis team suffered its second setback in as many days at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships, falling to Arkansas 4-2 Saturday night at the Seattle Tennis Center. The loss drops the Cavaliers’ record to 7-5 on season, as they have now lost three consecutive matches for the first time since the 2003 season.

The Cavaliers opened the match strong, taking the doubles point for a 1-0 lead. Darrin Cohen (Lafayette, Calif.) and Doug Stewart (Malibu, Calif.) scored an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles, before Somdev Devvarman (Chennai, India) and Treat Huey (Alexandria, Va.) clinched the point with an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.

In singles, the Cavaliers extended their lead to 2-0 when Cohen defeated Austin King 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 singles. However, the Razorbacks would rally to win the next four matches off the court to capture the win.

The Cavaliers will conclude play at the tournament on Sunday when they play Colorado. That match will begin at 5:30 p.m. PT at the Seattle Tennis Center.
