Tallahasee, FL – 71 to Lead UVa in First RoundCharlottesville – The Virginia men’s golf team finds itself in ninth place after the first round of play at Florida State’s Seminole Intercollegiate. The Cavaliers shot 5-over 293, but trail tournament-leading East Tennessee State by 11 shots.

The 11th-ranked Buccaneers own a one-shot lead over North Carolina while Coastal Carolina is third at 286.

Virginia was led individually by Eamonn McLoughlin’s 1-under 71. He is tied with six other golfers for 10th place. Brad Tilley is one shot behind McLoughlin in a tie for 16th. Andrea Signor is 30th at 74 while Conrad Von Borsig is 46th at 76 along with teammate Daniel Kefale.

Coastal Carolina’s Dustin Johnson carded an opening-round 66 to take a three-shot lead into Monday’s second round. North Carolina’s Martin Ureta, Central Florida’s Giwon Suh and Northwestern’s Kyle Moore are tied for second at 69.

The Seminole Intercollegiate is Virginia’s first event of the Spring Season. It concludes Tuesday.
