LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Virginia fourth-year Eric Kelley (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Christian School) finished 22nd in the one-meter diving competition Saturday (Mar. 11) at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships at the University of Kentucky’s Lancaster Aquatic Center. UVa’s only other competitor, fourth-year Andrew Barber (Vienna, Va./Marshall) placed 24th on the one-meter board.

Kelley, who was making his first NCAA Zone B Diving Championship, accumulated 257.85 points in the one-meter competition to finish 22nd. Barber tallied 255.45 points to finish in 24th place in his fourth and final Zone B meet.

On the three-meter board Friday, Barber was 14th with 557.10 points (combined prelims and finals score). It was Barber’s highest finish at the Zone B meet. Kelley was 23rd on the three-meter board with 359.65 points in his first Zone B event.

The NCAA Zone B Diving Championship features the top divers from across the southeast. The top finishers from each of the five zone meets across the country will earn the right to participate in the 2005 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
