SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Virginia softball team’s Saturday (Mar. 11) doubleheader at San Diego State has been cancelled due to wet field conditions. The games will not be made up.

The doubleheader was supposed to be the Cavaliers’ final contests of their spring break trip to California. UVa finished its California swing with a 2-3 record. Virginia started its long trip by tying for third place in the Buzz Classic (Mar 3-5) in Marietta, Ga., with a 5-2 record.

Virginia stands at 13-7 on the season. The Cavaliers return to action next weekend when they open Atlantic Coast Conference play with a three-game series at Virginia Tech. The two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday (Mar. 18) in Blacksburg and wrap up the series with a 1:00 p.m. contest on Sunday (Mar. 19).
