The loss drops the Cavaliers’ record to 6-5 on the season, 1-2 in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets improved to 10-2 on the year, and remained unbeaten in the conference (3-0).

The Cavaliers took the early 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point. In the last match on the courts, Lindsey Pereira (Arlington, Texas) rallied for a three set win over No. 74 ranked Anderson, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.

“It was a very good match and I am proud of our effort,” said Virginia head coach Mark Guilbeau. “We were beaten by a better team today, but certainly we made them earn it. We have obviously made tremendous progress and I know that will continue. I think we will work very hard as a team to learn now how to make the little details on and off the court that ultimately will make the difference in matches like this.”

The Cavaliers return home on Wednesday, March 15, as they play their first outdoor home match of the season against No. 26 TCU. Match time at the Snyder Tennis Center is 2:00 p.m.
