Virginia’s Tyler Leachman was named the ACC Player of the Week after helping the Cavaliers go 3-0 on the week, including two wins over ACC opponents as well as two wins over higher-ranked teams. Virginia upset both Maryland and Penn State before defeating Boston College to help UVa improve to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the league.

The Cavaliers began the week with a 14-9 victory over the Terrapins in College Park. Leachman tallied a goal and an assist while collecting a groundball in the win against Maryland.

On the road at Penn State, the fourth-year home led all scorers with seven points on five goals and two assists in Virginia’s 12-8 win over the Nittany Lions. Leachman posted eight shots and a draw control to pace UVa.

Virginia concluded its perfect week downing Boston College 18-3 at home. The Potomac, Md., native recorded three goals, two assists and three draw controls to stay unbeaten in league play.

Leachman’s five has 201 points in her All-American career, and she now has 158 career goals, which ranks fourth all-time at Virginia, and 201 career points ranks sixth, just ten shy of All-American Cary Chasney. She also has 77 draw controls in her career.

Leachman and the Cavaliers are back in action on Saturday, March 18 as they welcome North Carolina to Charlottesville, Va. in a game slated to begin at 1:00 pm.
