Charlottesville, VA – Virginia women’s golfers Leah Wigger and Lauren Mielbrecht were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golf team, as selected by a vote of the league’s nine head coaches. It marks the third consecutive year that Wigger, a junior, has been honored.
Mielbrecht received the distinction for the first time and became just the second Cavalier player to earn All-ACC accolades.
Wigger currently leads UVa with a 73.41 stroke average. She finished second at the ACC Championships and has eight top-10 showings in nine events this season. Wigger is currently ranked 20th in the latest Golfweek standings.
Mielbrecht is third on the team with a 75.59 stroke average and has four top-10 performances this year.
ACC Champion Duke dominated the voting by placing all five players on the team. The Blue Devils Amanda Blumenherst was named both the ACC Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year. Dan Brooks, Duke’s head coach, was chosen as the league’s Coach of the Year winning his 10th such honor.
