2006 NCAA Baseball Bracket

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – – The University of Virginia baseball team (46-13, 21-9 ACC) was awarded the No. 1 seed in the Charlottesville Regional for the 2006 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. The Cavaliers will be joined by No. 2 Seed South Carolina (37-22, 15-15 SEC), No. 3 Seed Evansville (40-20, 16-8 MVC) and No. 4 Seed Lehigh (28-26, 13-7 Patriot League this weekend June 2-5 at Davenport Field at the UVa Baseball Stadium. UVa will face Lehigh at 3 p.m. Friday while South Carolina and Evansville will follow at 7 p.m. in the Regional opener.

The NCAA Regional is a double-elimination tournament consisting of four teams playing a total of at least six games (seven if necessary). There will be two games on Friday, two contests on Saturday and two games (if necessary) on Sunday and single game (if necessary) on Monday.

The loser of Game 1 (Virginia vs. Lehigh) will play the loser of Game 2 (South Carolina vs. Evansville) on Sat., June 3 at 1 p.m. in an elimination contest. The winner of Game 1 and the winner of Game 2 will then square off in Game 4 on Sat. at 6 p.m. A second elimination game will be played at 1 p.m. Sun. while the first game of the regional championship will begin at 6 p.m. Sun. If necessary, Game 7 would then be played Mon. at 6 p.m.

Cavalier fans can preorder tickets today at UVa’s Internet site, VirginiaSports.com, or in person or by phone at the UVa Ticket office (800-542-UVA1) Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Reserved seat booklets are sold out and only General Admission booklets remain. General admission booklets are $40. If available, single-game reserved tickets will be $12 and single-game general admission tickets will be $8 and will go on sale Friday.
