Newport, RI – Virginia sophomore Jennie Arseneault shot 15-over 157 after the first 36 holes of play at the 2006 U.S. Women’s Open but failed to qualify for Sunday’s final two rounds.

Arseneault shot 6-over 77 during Friday’s opening round, which was moved back a day due to fog. She followed that up with an 80 on Saturday. She was in 130th place after the completion of the first two rounds.

A total of 68 players managed to make the cut which came at 8-over 150. only four of the 29 amateur players were among that group. Arseneault’s score was 12th best among the amateur competitors.

Arseneault advanced to the U.S. Women’s Open after winning a sectional qualifying tournament. She became the first Virginia player to compete in the event.
