Arseneault Wins Twice at US Amateur

North Plains, OR – Virginia sophomore golfer Jennie Arseneault won a pair of matches Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the 106th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship taking place at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore.
In the morning Arseneault needed 19 holes to defeat Tiffany Joh in the round of 32. It was her second straight win that went 19 holes in the match play format. Joh was the tournament’s No. 2 seed following stroke play and is the reigning U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links champion.
In the afternoon round of 16, Arseneault defeated Carlota Ciganda of Spain 2-up after trailing by as many as three holes early in the round. Arseneault broke open the tight match by winning the final two holes
Arseneault, from Grinnell, Iowa, will face Lindy Duncan of Plantation, Fla., in the quarterfinals.
Match play runs through Sunday and is being televised by The Golf Channel.
