CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – – The Virginia men’s soccer team opens up its preseason schedule by hosting Georgetown at 7 p.m. Wednesday in an exhibition game at Klockner Stadium. Admission is free. It is the first of two exhibition matches for the Cavaliers this week as UVa will face VCU Saturday at 7 p.m.

Virginia returns 10 starters and 17 letterwinners from a 2005 squad that posted a 12-5-3 record, finished second in the Atlantic Coast Conference and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Third Round. The Cavaliers are preseason picked No. 4 in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and No. 6 by College Soccer News.

The Cavaliers are led by three All-ACC selections in sophomore forward Yannick Reyering, senior forward Adam Cristman and junior midfielder Nico Colaluca. Goalkeeper Ryan Burke is in his fourth year as a starter in goal for the Cavaliers. Reyering earned All-ACC First Team honors after leading UVa in goals (14), points (30), game-winning goals (5) and shots (62). He was named a Freshman All-American by College Soccer News and Soccer America. Virginia also welcomes the eighth best recruiting class in the country led by midfielder Jonathan Villanueva, who has been credited as the top recruit in the country. Forwards Matt Mitchell and Chase Neinken also highlight the class.

Georgetown will play its second exhibition of the season as the Hoyas played the defending national champions, Maryland Terrapins, to a scoreless tie last Saturday. The Hoyas are preseason picked to finish sixth in the Big East Blue Division.

The Cavaliers will open their regular season Aug. 25 when UVa hosts Davidson in its first game of the Virginia Soccer Classic.
