Three Ranked Teams Highlight 2006 Virginia Soccer Classic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – – No. 3 Virginia will host No. 7 Akron, No. 21 UC Santa Barbara and Davidson Friday and Sunday in the 2006 Virginia Soccer Classic at Klockner Stadium. Akron and UC Santa Barbara open the tournament Friday at 2 p.m., while the Cavaliers will face Davidson at 7:30 p.m. following the UVa women’s soccer game with Syracuse beginning at 5 p.m.

The classic wraps up Sunday with Akron taking on Davidson at noon. Virginia and UC Santa Barbara will play at 7:30 p.m. following the UVa women’s soccer game with Liberty at 5 p.m.

This will be the seventh time that UVa has hosted the Virginia Soccer Classic. The Cavaliers have won the tournament twice. UVa captured the championships in 2000 and 2002 and finished as the runner-up in 2001 and 2004.
