Charlottesville, VA – The University of Virginia athletics department announced today plans to renew its radio partnership with Clear Channel, by reaching an agreement for WTNT AM 570 to be the home for Virginia Athletics programming in Northern Virginia for the next two years.

WTNT AM 5700 will continue to be the home for Virginia football and men’s basketball play-by-play broadcasts. Additionally, Virginia Athletics has partnered with WTNT sister station, WTEM AM SportsTalk 980, Clear Channel’s sports station in the Northern Virginia market, on a promotional package which will highlight Virginia football and men’s basketball throughout the season.

Chris Johnson, Programming Director for WTNT and WTEM is excited about the partnership.

“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with the University of Virginia and we’re looking forward to being part of an exciting future for Cavaliers football and basketball,” Johnson said.

“WTNT continues to be an important and integral part of our radio network,” Oliver said. “Clear Channel and WTNT have been loyal partners with the Virginia Sports Radio Network and I’m pleased our relationship is continuing. To have a quality station like WTNT as our Northern Virginia affiliate is very important to us.”

Virginia kicks off its 2006 football season on Sept. 2nd in Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. against Pittsburgh, with the pre-game show beginning at 6 p.m.
