CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s tennis team announced its 2006-07 schedule on Wednesday. The Cavaliers will once again play one of the nation’s toughest schedules this season, as 20 of their opponents were ranked in the final 2006 rankings, including 14 of last year’s top 30.

Seventeen 2006 NCAA Tournament teams highlight the schedule, including eight that were also at Stanford last season for the NCAA Round of 16 (Notre Dame, Illinois, Pepperdine, Baylor, Texas, Miami, North Carolina, and Duke). The Cavaliers will have a chance to play even more top-level teams at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Chicago.

Virginia will have 13 home matches this season, eight at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club and five at the Snyder Tennis Center. The home schedule is highlighted by defending NCAA Champion Pepperdine and defending ACC Champion Duke. ACC rivals North Carolina, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and Maryland will also visit Charlottesville, as will non-conference foes Illinois, Notre Dame, Boise State, Michigan, Tennessee, and Old Dominion.
