Wilmington, NC – Virginia sophomore Jennie Arseneault continued her stellar play this fall by shooting even par 72 to share the lead after the first round at UNC Wilmington’s Landfall Tradition. After shooting 13-over 301 in the rainy conditions, the ninth-ranked Cavaliers find themselves one shot behind Michigan for the tournament lead. Michigan State and Ohio State are tied for third at 305.

Arseneault was one of three UVa players in the top-10 after the first 18 holes of play. Leah Wigger and Lauren Mielbrecht both carded scores of 3-over 75 to tie for 10th. Whitney Neuhauser is 28th at 79 and Rachel Smith is 38th at 81.

Arseneault is tied on the leaderboard with Michigan’s Brianna Broderick and Ohio Sate’s Dana Jae. Megan Padua from Penn State is one shot off the lead. Arseneault has finished in the top 10 in her previous two outings this year.

Saturday’s second round gets underway at 8:15 a.m. Live scoring of the tournament will be on the Internet at Golfstat.com.
