Virginia Men's Tennis Receives Bid to National Team Indoors

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s tennis team received a bid to the 2007 ITA National Team Indoor Championships, which will be held February 16-19 at the Midtown Tennis Club in Chicago. The Cavaliers will be making their third consecutive appearance in the tournament, which features 16 of the nation’s top teams.

This year’s field consists of Baylor, Duke, Georgia, Illinois, Miami, Mississippi, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn, Pepperdine, Stanford, Texas, UCLA, and Virginia. A representative from the central and mountain regions will be determined in January.

In 2005, the last time the event was held at the Midtown Tennis Club, the Cavaliers reached the final. It marked the first time in the tournament’s history that a team reached the final in its first tournament appearance.
