Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia men’s lacrosse team is ranked first in the Inside Lacrosse magazine, Lacrosse magazine and Face-Off Yearbook preseason polls.

Head coach Dom Starsia’s squad, winners of a school-record 17 consecutive games, features 25 returning lettermen and six starters this season. Last season the Cavaliers finished the season ranked number one after going 17-0 and capturing their third NCAA title in eight seasons.

This is the first time since 2004 the Cavaliers have been ranked first in the preseason; last year they were ranked third.

Virginia opens the season at home on Feb. 18 against Drexel. The game will be played at the UHall Turf Field and will face off at 1 p.m.
