Jordan Orr, who helped Virginia set the school record in the distance medley relay yesterday, ran his fastest 800m time of the year as competition continued at the Alex Wilson Invitational today (March 3). Orr and the rest of the Cavaliers are ranked seventh nationally with their school record 9:35.16 and should receive an invitation to the NCAA Championships for next week’s meet.

Orr ran a 1:51.11, just nipping his 1:51.49 set earlier this year. Sara Casscells also set a Virginia-best 800m mark today, running a 2:11.89. Andrew Jesien ran Virginia’ fastest mile of 2007 with his 4:06.26, just ahead of teammate Kevin McHale’s 4:06.78. McHale ran a 4:00.9 split in the anchor leg of the DMR in Friday’s competition. Andy Biladeau shaved four seconds off his best time in the 3K, running an 8:11.41. He finished seventh overall, just behind teammate Jan Foerster, who finished sixth in 8:09.09.

The men’s distance medley competition is slated for 9:35 p.m. on Friday, March 9 at the Randal Tyson Center at the University of Arkansas.
