Rowing's Kok, Maher & McCann Earn 2007 CRCA Pocock All-America Honors

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Three Virginia women’s rowers have been named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Pocock All-America Team.
Earning first-team honors were seniors Melanie Kok (St. Catharines, Ontario) and Kerry Maher (Welland, Ontario). Senior Libby McCann (Arlington, Mass.) earned second-team recognition.
Kok, a two-time team captain, was a first-team All-South Region honoree in 2007. Also a two-time All-ACC honoree, Kok was a member of the varsity 8+ that placed fifth in the 2007 NCAA Championships grand final and swept every race en route to the 2007 South/Central Regional Championships. She was named to the 2006 ACC Honor Roll. She earned a gold medal with Canada’s lightweight quad crew at the 2005 World Rowing Championships in Gifu, Japan.
Maher, a two-time captain, was a first-team All-South Region honoree in 2007. An All-ACC honoree in 2006, Maher was a member of the varsity 8+ that placed fifth in the 2007 NCAA Championships grand final and swept every race en route to the 2007 South/Central Regional Championships. An ACC Honor Roll recipient, she represented the University of Virginia at the 2006 NCAA Leadership Conference. Maher competed in the women’s 8+ at the Under 23 World Championships in Belgium last summer.
McCann, a team captain as a senior, was a first-team All-South Region honoree in 2007. An All-ACC honoree, McCann was a member of the varsity 8+ that placed fifth in the 2007 NCAA Championships grand final and swept every race en route to the 2007 South/Central Regional Championships. Also an ACC Honor Roll honoree, McCann was a member of the NCAA Champion varsity 4+ boat at the 2004 NCAA Championships.
