CLEMSON, S.C. The Virginia volleyball team (8-6, 3-2 ACC) was defeated by Clemson 3-0 Saturday. Match scores were 30-24, 30-27 and 30-21. The win improved the Tigers’ record to 11-2 over and an undefeated 4-0 mark in conference play.

Virginia hit .112 for the match, registering 46 kills, while Clemson finished with a .239 percentage and 51 kills. Sarah Kirkwood paced the Cavaliers with a match-high 17 and Kendahl Voelker added eight. Irvin finished with 27 assists for Virginia.

Fourth year Melissa Caldwell led UVa defensively with a match-high 21 digs. Kirkwood and Beth Shelton each pitched in 11 and rookie A.J. Cushman added 10. Shannon Davis finished with four blocks.

Meghan Steiner led the Tigers with 11 kills while Didem Ege finished with 19 digs.

Virginia returns home next week to play host to Boston College and Maryland. The Cavaliers and Eages will meet a 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Gymnasium.
