CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. The Blue Team evened the Orange and Blue World Series at a game apiece Thursday with a 5-4 win over the Orange Team at Davenport Field. Jake Rule (Waynesboro, Va.) and Michael Schwimer (Alexandria, Va.) combined for 4 2/3 innings of hitless relief to help the Blue Team rally from a 4-3 deficit.

Phil Gosselin (Fr., West Chester, Pa.) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI to lead the Blue Team offense. David Coleman (Fr., Richmond, Va.) hit a solo home run as part of a 2-for-3, two-RBI effort for Team Orange.

Rule fired 3 2/3 innings of relief, allowing just a walk while striking out four to earn the win. Schwimer tossed the seventh inning to notch the save. Neal Davis (Baltimore, Md.) took the loss for Team Orange, allowing six hits and two runs in three innings of relief for starter Jake Cowan (Roswell, Ga.).

The Blue Team jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning against Orange starter Matt Packer (Germantown, Tenn.). Team Orange came back with a run in the bottom of the first on a home run by Coleman and took the lead in the third with three runs to bounce Packer from the game.

The Blue Team scored twice in the fourth inning on run-scoring singles by Gosselin and Dan Grovatt (Tabernacle, N.J.).

The teams are back in action at 6 p.m. Sunday for the deciding game in the first three-game series. The first three games of the seven-game series count as one series, while games 4-6 will be a separate series. Game 7 will be the deciding game if the teams split the first two series. Admission to all games is free to the public.
