WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Virginia volleyball team (13-7, 8-3 ACC) downed Wake Forest 3-1 on the road Friday. Game scores were 30-28, 31-29, 19-30 and 30-24. Fourth year Melissa Caldwell paced the Cavaliers with a match-high 21 digs.

Sarah Kirkwood and Kendahl Voelker tallied 15 and 12 digs, respectively, while Katie Oakes finished with nine and Shannon Davis added eight. Kelly Irvin recorded 40 assists for Virginia in the winning effort.

Defensively, Kirkwood pitched in 13 digs and Irvin added 10. Tara Hester and A.J. Cushman both finished with nine digs. Additionally, Davis, Kirkwood and Oakes had three blocks a piece.

Virginia hit .132 for the match, including a solid .314 hitting percentage in game four. Wake Forest finished with a .130 hitting percentage.

Natalie Mullikin led the Demon Deacons with 16 kills and Kristen White added 13 kills for Wake Forest.

Virginia continues conference action on the road Saturday at Duke. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
