CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Virginia swimmers John Azar and Stephanie Glover have been tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference performers of the week, announced Tuesday by the league office.

Glover, a fourth year, claimed two individual events in Virginia’s win over Virginia Tech last Saturday. Glover turned in first-place finishes in the 100 butterfly (55.90) and 200 freestyle (1:51.44). Her times in the 100 fly and 200 free currently rank first and second, respectively, in the league. She also was part of two winning relay squads, the 200 medley and 400 freestyle teams. Glover’s contribution in the 200 medley helped the Cavaliers set a new War Memorial Pool record (1:43.59).

Azar, a second year, helped the Virginia men notch their first win of the young season against the Hokies. He captured first place in both the 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley with winning times of 2:05.47 and 1:53.78, respectively. The El Paso, Texas, native also swam on the 200 medley relay team that finished as runner-up with a 1:32.54 mark. Azar’s time in the 200 breast ranks first in the conference, while his performance in the 200 IM is third best.

Azar shared the honor with Florida State’s Terry Horner.
