Wilmington, N.C. The Virginia men’s golf team is in eighth place after two rounds of competition at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington with a score of 598. The Cavaliers shot 1-over 289 in the second round Saturday, a 20-shot improvement over their first round score.

UVa was led Saturday by sophomore Kyle Stough, who shot 6-under 66. Stough’s previous best single-round score was a 70 he posted at Florida State last spring. Stough enters Sunday’s final round tied for fifth at 143. His best tournament finish is a pair of 10th-place efforts last season.

UVa’s Henry Smart is 22nd at 148, Conrad Von Borsig shot 72 to move up to 40th at 154, Greg Carlin is 42nd at 155 and Amory Davis is 53rd at 158.

Tulsa’s Nicholas Geyger leads the field by four shots at 135.

The final round of the tournament will take place Sunday.
