CHARLOTTESVILLE — The Virginia men’s tennis team closes out the home portion of its regular season schedule on Tuesday as it hosts Mercer. Game time at Klckner Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

The Cavaliers (9-4-2, 1-3-2 ACC), ranked No. 18 in the latest Soccer America rankings, are coming off a 2-1 double overtime loss to Duke on Friday. Matt Mitchell (Tariffville, Conn.) scored his first career goal in the match against the Blue Devils. Virginia is undefeated at home this season (7-0-0) against non-conference opponents.

The Bears (6-10-1, 2-6-1 Atlantic Sun) are coming off a scoreless draw against Campbell on Saturday. Mercer is led by Vicente Arze, who has four goals and seven assists this year.

The game is the second all-time meeting between the schools. In 2001, the Cavaliers defeated Mercer 2-1 at Klckner Stadium.

Tuesday’s game will also be the final regular season home match for nine Cavaliers: Matt Ayotte (Midlothian, Va.), Jeremy Barlow (Herndon, Va.), Will Hall (Shirley, N.Y.), Dane Murphy (Redding, Conn.), Yannick Reyering (Mettingen, Germany), Kyle Rudzinski (McLean, Va.), Zola Short (Arlington, Va.), Chris Tierney (Wellesley, Mass.) and Matt Williams (Richmond, Va.).

Virginia will return to conference action on Saturday as it visits Maryland. Game time in College Park is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live online by ACC Select.
