Virginia’s Inge Kaars Sijpesteijn was named the ACC Player of the Week and was also named to the National Honor Roll by womensfieldhockey.com as the Cavalier field hockey team picked up honors after upsetting Duke 5-3 on Saturday (Oct. 27). Kaars Sijpesteijn was a crucial part of the Cavalier defense that limited Duke’s chances on the offensive side of the ball while she was still able to generate multiple opportunities for her teammates at the other end of the field. Kaars Sijpesteijn also scored one of the Cavaliers’ five goals in the contest on a direct corner.

Virginia’s victory vaulted the Cavaliers to the fifth seed in the ACC tournament and a game against host Boston College on Thursday, Nov. 1 in the first round of the championships. Game time against the Eagles is 1 p.m.
