Jason Dunn Named ACC Cross Country Coach of the Year

After guiding the Virginia men’s cross country team to the ACC title for the second time in three years, Virginia’s Jason Dunn has been named the ACC Coach of the Year. Dunn, who has also mentored the Cavaliers to their highest ranking in school history with their No. 9 position this week, earned his second such honor in three years after also being so named in 2005 after Virginia won the ACC title.

Dunn, in his eighth season at Virginia, has now been recognized as the 2005 ACC Cross Country Coach of the Year, the 2006 Assistant Coach of the Year for Distance in the East Region, and the 2007 ACC Cross Country Coach of the Year.

“It’s flattering any time you are recognized by your peers,” said Dunn. “I’m most pleased with the result of the team’s win at the ACC Championships, and I think that this award is a great reflection on the performance of the team. I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks with these men as we prepare for the Southeast Regional.”

The Cavaliers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 10 as they travel to Louisville to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional.
