CHARLOTTESVILLE The 2007-08 Virginia women’s basketball campaign gets underway Monday night, when the Cavaliers host Team Concept in an exhibition at John Paul Jones Arena. Tip-off is 7 p.m., with the game being broadcast on WINA (1070 AM).

The Cavaliers finished with a 19-15 overall record last season and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). In Atlantic Coast Conference play, the Cavaliers finished with a 5-9 record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament as the No. 8 seed.

Returning for her 31st season on the sidelines is head coach Debbie Ryan. She returns three starters from last year’s squad: fourth-year point guard Sharne Zoll, third-year forward Lyndra Littles and second-year guard Monica Wright.

Team Concept, under the guidance of head coach Steve Smith, begins its fall tour at Virginia. The squad of former collegiate and WNBA players features two former Cavaliers. Jocelyn Logan-Friend (2002-05) and Telisha Quarles (1999-2002) both played at UVa under Ryan.
