Virginia’s Erin Klein went to high school at Lake Braddock in Burke, Va. before matriculating at UVa. After redshirting her first year in cross country, Klein set personal best marks in both the mile and 1500 on the track. She ran for the Hoos at the Cavalier Open last weekend, the last home meet of the 2007 cross country season. She sat down with VirginiaSports.com to share information about herself with UVa fans.

Years of competitive running: Five

My favorite place to run: Burke Lake because it was my high school home course and is very familiar to me. It’s also nice and flat!

Most memorable race: Two-mile junior year at Outdoor Regionals. The meet was on the line and my coach told me that I needed to get second to secure the win. After battling it out with two other girls for the entire race, I finally found it in me to make the place. It was one of the hardest races I ever run, but was one of the most rewarding as my teammates surrounded me and helped me stay on my feet when I wanted to collapse.

Race I would like to run: 3000m for UVa

My favorite Olympic event: Figure skating

My favorite book: Dreadful Sorry by Kathryn Reiss

Music I listen to when I run: Girly sing-along type music

My favorite pre-race meal: Shrimp scampi with butter sauce

If I didn’t run, I would be: Involved with more clubs on grounds like the swing dancing club. I would also try to volunteer.

My favorite place at UVa: Old Cabell

When I don’t run, I: sing with CHoosE. I also spend time with friends, find new music, snuggle up on the couch with my apartment-mates and watch chick flicks.
