CARY, N.C. Virginia defeated NC State in the first round of the ACC Tournament, 4-1, Tuesday afternoon at the SAS Soccer Stadium in Cary, N.C. NC State (6-9-3) was whistled for another foul in the penalty box in the 66th minute, and Tierney stepped up and converted his second PK of the game for his sixth goal of the year.
