GREENSBORO, N.C. After leading the Cavaliers to a 2-0 week, Virginia guard Monica Wright was named ACC Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Wright, a Woodbridge, Va. native, shares the weekly honor with Maryland’s Crystal Langhorne. A season ago, Wright was named ACC Rookie of the Week a school-record eight times, and this is the first-career Player of the Week nod for the second-year.

After matching a career-high with 27 points in UVa’s win over Wisconsin Friday night in the ACC / Big Ten Challenge, Wright followed up that performance with 17 points and six rebounds Sunday against Fairleigh Dickinson.

For the week, Wright averaged 22.0 points per game and shot 59 percent (17-29) from the field.

Virginia, winner of five of its last six games, faces No. 2/2 Connecticut Wednesday night at the Hartford Civic Center. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
