CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) –Sean Singletary scored 21 points to lead Virginia to a 76-57 win over Longwood Friday, handing the Lancers their eighth straight loss.

The Cavaliers (7-2) got back on track in John Paul Jones, bouncing back from a 70-68 loss at home Wednesday to Syracuse that was only the second loss there in 23 games.

Adrian Joseph had his fourth double-double of the season, with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Mamadi Diane and Calvin Baker each added 11.

The Cavaliers started off the second half with a 21-8 run, including 16 unanswered points sparked by back-to-back 3-pointers by Joseph. Another 13-2 run gave Virginia its largest lead of the game, 67-41, with 3:45 remaining.

Longwood jumped on the board first, going up 3-0 in the first 1 1/2 minutes, but the Cavaliers responded with a 16-3 run. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Ryan Bogan and Kirk Williams kicked off a 10-2 run by Longwood that brought the Lancers to within three with 3:25 left to play in the half. Virginia took a 29-22 lead into the locker room.

Williams was 4-for-7 from the 3-point line, finishing with 20 points for Longwood (2-9). Bogan added three 3-pointers and had 11 points.

Longwood shot just 28 percent on the night, compared to nearly 45 percent shooting for Virginia.
