CHARLOTTESVILLE Virginia head women’s rowing coach Kevin Sauer announced Tuesday that assistant coach Steve Pritzker has been elevated to the position of associate head coach. Pritzker, who helped lead the varsity four crew to NCAA Championships in 2004, 2005 and 2007, has served as an assistant under Sauer in various capacities since 2004.

“I am pleased to announce that Steve has been named associate head coach,” Sauer said. “This appointment is in recognition of his hard work and contributions in the areas of recruiting, program management and coaching for our program.”

Pritzker is a 1999 graduate of Yale University, where he earned four varsity letters as the coxswain of the rowing team.

He began his career with UVa as a graduate student and volunteer assistant coach, earning a diploma from the Darden Graduate School of Businesss Administration in 2005. He assumed full-time coaching responsibilities in the spring after graduation.

The varsity four crew has won three NCAA Championships, four South/Central Regional Championships, and four ACC Championships during Pritzker’s four years. In 2005 and 2007, the varsity four went undefeated. He has also been the director of recruiting since 2005.
