Records: Virginia 17-5, 5-1 ACC; Morehead State 7-14, 5-7 OVC

Tonight’s attendance was 2,380.

Tonight was the first meeting between Virginia and Morehead State.

At 17-5, the Cavaliers are off to their best start since the 2004-05 team also began the year 17-5. UVa has won 11 of its last 12 games.

UVa is 24-8 all-time in John Paul Jones Arena, including an 11-2 mark this season.

Virginia outscored the Eagles 40-14 in the point.

The Cavaliers outrebounded Morehead State 49-25. UVa is 15-2 this year when outrebounding its opponent. The team’s 49 caroms also were the most of the season, surpassing the previous high of 47 at Miami (Jan. 21).

UVa shot 51 percent (30-58) from the field against the Eagles. Virginia is an undefeated 7-0 this year when shooting 50 percent or better.

Virginia also is an unbeaten 14-0 when scoring 70 or more points.

Fourth-year Sharne Zoll finished with five assists, and needs 37 more helpers to tie former Cavalier Dawn Staley’s all-time mark 729.

Aisha Mohammed tallied her ninth double-double of the season with 12 points and a game-high 10 boards.

Second-year Monica Wright tallied 17 points to increase her double-digit scoring streak to 20 games.

Britnee Millner also chipped in a season-best 10 points. She had previously scored eight points in two other games this year.

Virginia will play at Maryland Friday. Tip from the Comcast Center is 7 p.m.
