Cavaliers Earn Academic All-ACC Honors

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Virginia field hockey players Katherine Bounds and Lauren Elstein were named to the 2007 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Field Hockey Team, announced Monday by the league office.

Bounds is a fourth-year English language and literature major who started 15 of the team’s 21 games in 2007. It was the second honor for Bounds, who was also named to the academic team last season.

Elstein, a second-year who is undeclared, was named to the team for the first time. Elstein started 16 of the 17 games she played in and finished with three goals and three assists on the year.

To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have earned a 3.0 GPA or better in the Fall 2007 semester and possess a cumulative GPA above 3.0 as well.
